Find Happiness

[Excerpt from GAME]
Remember Rule 3?
The Game is dual. Everything in it exists because the opposite also exists.
It is impossible to have happiness without sadness.
Just as it is impossible to have cold without hot or up without down.
The character arose from… there isn’t a word for it… the ecstasy of life…? pure bliss…? absolute joy…?
What is it that gave rise to the Northern Lights or the inside of a rose or the smile of a baby or the Grand Canyon or the morning dew?
There is no word that can come close to that magnificent, quietly exuberant everything-ness.
But the character is searching for it. Looking for what it arose from.
The closest the character - a dual being in a dual world - can come to it is pleasure.
Which can only exist with pain.
Or contentment.
Which can only exist with discontent.
Or happiness.
Which can only exist with sadness.
Or delight.
Which can only exist with despair.
It cannot have only one. If it wants one, it has to also have the other. This is intolerable to the character who wants only the absolute.
But the absolute is hidden by The Game.
And so the search continues.
